UNTITLED (GLARE OF NAUPAKA LEAF SEA WEDGES)

Glare of Naupaka leaf sea wedges

Dancing black stick figures robots

Against the molten surf, blurring edges

Breaking Giacomettis into jagged ziggurats,

Mast, sails, Seurats turned to cartoon cubes,

Play Station ripples in the waves repeated

On passing incandescent inner tubes,

Another summer’s perfect run completed

By the inflated yellow plastic beach,

In rafts, in ragged hollow donuts

Strewn around the bouncing tropic reach

Where gyrating amber sand briefly juts

Beneath the newly-weds joined unhappily

To the brilliant future of the crooked sea.
