ENERGY EXCHANGE

What twists of DNA between

The spiral shell and simple brain,

Between the planet's apple core of filings

And a mirror's single pane of stylings,

A star's incandescent friction

And our insufficient diction,

Autumn's luminescent glory

And its faded understory

Which we trade in fission's school

For the memento mori ghoul:

A skeletal, insufficient human

All the same exchanged for sun.
